Graduates’ Day October 2018 - The Wisdom of the Body
This one-day workshop will explore the origins and steps of BioSpiritual Focusing and invite spiritual directors to consider their application to their ministry of accompaniment. Presented by John Keane, European Regional Director of The BioSpiritual Institute, the day will include some Experiential Focusing sessions supervised by John, an experienced facilitator. It will help spiritual directors to become more aware of how sacred story is carried in the body and the appreciate further how grace moves differently in the lives of those they accompany. During the workshop we will experience how ordinary, everyday living, experienced in the body, can be a source of spiritual development. This lived experience links us to a process that is more than just ourselves, connecting us to the One ‘in whom we live and move and have our being.’ (Acts 17:28)
Bio-Spiritual Focusing teaches us how to reconnect with our body's consciousness through the 'felt-sense' which is common to all humanity. We learn to recognise the body-feel of being carried in the constantly unfolding Universal Process of Creation in this body-centred method of spiritual inquiry and communion – one which is easily taught to both adults and children. BioSpiritual Focusing is described fully in the book Rediscovering the Lost Body-Connection Within Christian Spirituality, written by Fr. Peter A. Campbell, Ph.D., and Fr. Edwin M. McMahon, Ph.D.
