Culture Night 2019

Culture Night 2019

Manresa’s Dollymount buildings are a response by architect Andy Devane (1917-2000) to the needs of the Irish Jesuits for a modern retreat house. Visitors are welcome to a 7.30pm talk by architectural historian Emma Gilleece, who will help visitors to appreciate these Dollymount buildings in the context of Devane’s oeuvre and in those of Irish and international twentieth-century architecture. At the end of the evening, you are welcome to join us for a few moments of quiet in Andy Devane's Arrupe Chapel where we will join Culture Night participants throughout Ireland in holding a minute’s silence, pausing to imagine the future you would like for yourself and future generations, as a simple act of collective imagining.
