... Dublin Chapter of the Woodstock Business Conference

As we in Ireland read the signs of the times in the wake of the global financial crisis and amid the deepest recession in generations, what is the role of committed Christian business professionals in leading their businesses in Ireland and as part of a global society?

The Dublin Chapter of the Woodstock Business Conference (WBC) is a forum for committed Christian business professionals to explore concrete answers to their role as business leaders in addressing the pressing challenges of our time.

Founded in 1992 and coordinated by the internationally renowned Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University in Washington DC, the WBC is a network of business executives who are striving to 'move with practical wisdom toward greater integration in their lives and more effective leadership'.

The Dublin Chapter of the WBC is a spiritually grounded forum that meets monthly to reflect on and confidentially discuss business issues and how we can practically address them as committed business leaders.  Through prayer, discussion and reflection we seek to better understand how we are called to a vocation as a business leader and how we can address challenges that arise in our day to day dealings.

The Woodstock Business Conference's stated mission is to establish a network of business leaders to explore the Judeo-Christian tradition in order:

- to assist the individual to integrate faith, family and professional life;
- to help the leadership of the firm to develop a corporate culture consistent with Judeo-Christian values; and,
- to aid business leaders and corporations to exercise a beneficial influence upon society at large.

The Judeo-Christian tradition sees business as a calling, a vocation.  This tradition highlights the fact that as a business person you are a steward, entrusted with God's creation.  While founded in the Roman Catholic tradition, the WBC is committed to the conviction that ethics and values grow out of one's religious heritage and welcomes all believers who are open to and respectful of one another's religious traditions.

We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at the Jesuit offices at 37 Leeson Street.
