Evening Events

Making Space for Faith and Prayer:  This programme of eight evenings offers the space and time for busy people to nourish the spirit, enrich their prayer lives and find inspiration for everyday living.  Starts 7 October, and runs fortnightly until 10 February, 2011.  > More information

A New Vision for Our Church:  In this new series, Fr. Gerry O'Hanlon, S.J., will speak about the teaching of the Second Vatican Council on the Church, and suggest that this is the key to the profound renewal to which the Church is being called urgently today.  Rooted in Scripture, the teaching of the Fathers and more recent theological developments, Vatican II opens up a vision of Church that is at once faithful to tradition and capable of responding to the challenges of our contemporary world.  Fr. O'Hanlon works in the Jesuit Centre of Faith and Justice and is Associate Professor of Theology in the Milltown Institute.  Takes place 5, 12 and 19 October, 2010.  > More information

St. Ignatius at the Movies:  Through the medium of film, supported by discussion and reflection, this weekly series of eight evenings will guide participants through some of the major themes of the Spiritual Exercises.  Starts 13 October, and runs weekly until 1 December, 2010.  > More information

Wake up to Life:  With the help of Fr. John Callanan, S.J., participants in this series of three evenings (9, 16 and 23 November, 2010) will be led through some of the prayer exercises of well-known spiritual writer, Anthony de Mello, S.J., and will be helped to reflect afterwards on the significance of the experience.  Fr. Callanan has published several books on de Mello's spirituality.  > More information

Advent Evenings:  As a way of preparing for Christmas, we offer short periods of guided prayer on each Tuesday of Advent.  No booking required: just come along!  Starts 30 November, 2010.  > More information

Movies that Matter:  This series returns with a new season of fortnightly films beginning on 19 January, 2011 and ending on 30 March, 2011 (7.30-10.00pm).  Participants will view a film and then reflect together, through the eyes of faith, on the issues and values raised.  > More information

The Pilgrim Road:  In this series, beginning on 8 February, 2011 and continuing fortnightly until 17 May, 2011, participants will be guided through some of the key moments of the Ignatian spiritual journey.  Each evening will involve some input, small-group sharing and plenary discussion.  Participants will be expected to commit themselves to a period of daily prayer and reflection.  > More information
